Fr. Rivas is a spiritual anchor and educational scholar whose work bridges the 1,600-year Augustinian intellectual tradition with the contemporary crisis of educational quality. His doctoral research argues that true educational quality cannot be measured by metrics and market indicators alone — it must be grounded in the dignity of the human person, the formation of ethical and reflective citizens, and an education that integrates the intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and social dimensions of the student. At Futuro MMXXV, convened at Georgetown University, he served as a keynote Legacy Architect and was awarded the NeXT Citation of Distinction in Community Project Development and Innovation.

El Padre Pedro Gregorio de Jesús Rivas, OAR, lleva la autoridad moral de una vida consagrada a la fe, la educación y la formación de los jóvenes a lo largo de las Américas. Recoleto agustino de la República Dominicana, sirvió durante muchos años como Rector del Colegio San Agustín en la Ciudad de Panamá, dirigiendo una de las instituciones educativas más importantes de la orden en el hemisferio. Hoy completando su doctorado en Educación, su investigación doctoral integra la tradición pedagógica agustina con preguntas contemporáneas sobre calidad educativa, dignidad humana y la formación de ciudadanos éticos.
Fr. Rivas operates from the Augustinian conviction that education is humanization — that the purpose of learning is not to produce workers for the labor market but to form ethical, reflective, autonomous citizens capable of seeking truth. His doctoral research challenges the technocratic model of educational accreditation, arguing that quality must be measured by the dignity of the person, not by financial and bureaucratic standards. Drawing on Augustine's De Magistro, he insists that the true teacher is the interior master — that students learn not because they are taught, but because they discover truth within themselves through dialogue, love, and community.
