Author × AI — Biblioteca Vasconcelos
Mexico's monumental public library opened its institutional architecture to BeNeXT for the Author × AI convening — placing the country's most ambitious civic-cultural institution alongside a working session on authorship, artificial intelligence, and the future of how knowledge is made. The Biblioteca Vasconcelos plays the same role in Mexico City that the Library of Congress plays in Washington: the public, monumental threshold where a nation's intellectual record meets the citizens who will write the next chapter of it.
Project authors engaged the institutional architecture of the Vasconcelos — its layered halls, its specialized collections in children, music, multimedia, Braille and periodicals, its virtual library, and the Secretariat of Culture infrastructure that runs all of it. The convening sat inside one of Mexico's most consequential public cultural buildings, framing Author × AI not as a technology session but as a continuation of the long Mexican tradition of authorship in dialogue with the state's cultural commitments.
The first of an ongoing series — the Biblioteca Vasconcelos is a continuing host institution for Author × AI in Mexico City. A working relationship with the Secretaría de Cultura that anchors BeNeXT's institutional presence in Mexico the way the Library of Congress anchors it in Washington.
